Marketing Tips to Inspire and Motivate for a Fabulous Fall!

Fall is a time to rejuvenate and recommit to who you want to be and the kind of work you want to do in the world! Here are some ideas to help get you going.

We have to face it…summer is coming to a close. As September rolls in, it is time to get back into the work mindset. It is time to reassess your goals for the year, gather your tools and team, and solidify your action plans. Yes, this can all seem so darn daunting, but it can also be an exhilarating time—and isn’t it far more fun to think of it that way. Change your mind, change your life!

Fall is a time to rejuvenate and recommit to who you want to be and the kind of work you want to do in the world! Here are some ideas to help get you going.

Seasonal Content

Get your creative juices flowing and create content that aligns with the changing season and what that means to your ideal customer. Address the issues they may be dealing with as September unfolds—and offer support in free content, products, and services. Consider content related to the fall, such as autumnal imagery and themes. Whatever you do, keep it consistent and incorporate it into your website, social media, and email marketing.

Email Marketing

If, like me, you cut back on your email campaigns over the summer, now is the time to commit to a consistent schedule and send targeted email campaigns to your subscriber list. Consider promotions to soften the "summer's over" blues or a fall-themed newsletter with industry insights, valuable content, or promotions. Share your plans and give them a sneak peek of the cool services or products you have coming up that get them excited!

PRO TIP: Send a highly personalized, targeted email campaign to past clients to check in with them and let them know about any new services or products you have.

Video Marketing

Video content is no longer a nice to have but a must-have – it is highly effective in engaging and converting customers. Create engaging videos showcasing your products or services, client testimonials, welcome messages, or behind-the-scenes glimpses of your business.

Update your Website

This is the perfect time to look at your website with a fresh eye and make strategic updates to strengthen your brand, increase engagement, and grow your customer base.

  • Update or add new content; add new blogs with fresh, relevant, helpful content.

  • Be aware of the latest website trends and add new features or animations to help make your site more engaging and create a better user experience.

  • If you have a lead-generating strategy, consider updating your free giveaway and add a pop-up if you don’t have one.

  • Add new client testimonials. Ask past clients to leave reviews on platforms like Google, Yelp, or Trustpilot. Positive reviews are a great way to boost your credibility and attract new customers.

  • Update your photos. This may be a good time to invest in a professional photoshoot to level up your site.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

You will also want to do your annual SEO clean-up→

  • Use tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and third-party SEO tools to gather data about your website's performance.

  • Check for any technical issues like broken links, slow page loading times, and crawl errors.

  • Analyze your backlink profile. Disavow toxic or spammy backlinks, and work on building high-quality, relevant backlinks if needed.

  • Update your keyword research. Identify new keywords and trends relevant to your industry and target audience. Keyword research tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Google's Keyword Planner can be helpful.

  • Update and optimize existing content based on your keyword research. This includes improving headlines, meta descriptions, and the overall quality of the content.

  • Review on-page SEO elements such as title tags, header tags, and image alt tags. Make sure they are optimized with relevant keywords.

  • Check and improve website speed and mobile-friendliness. Google considers these factors important for rankings.

 Local SEO

If you have a physical location, ensure your local SEO is on point. Update your business hours, address, and any special events or promotions for September.

Plan for Upcoming Holidays

Start planning your marketing strategies for the upcoming holiday season (e.g., Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas) to get a head start on your competitors.

Remember that consistency and authenticity in your marketing efforts are critical. Tailor these tips to your specific business and customer base, and be prepared to adapt to changing circumstances and trends.
